Nitro Software, the leading global provider of an accelerated document productivity platform, said today that it had successfully renewed its SOC 2 Type 2 report and HIPAA compliance evaluation according to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ attestation criteria. By demonstrating a commitment to strong internal controls, Nitro Software has gained a competitive advantage in its industry.

SOC 2 is an internationally recognized compliance standard created by the American Institute of CPAs to describe how corporations should manage and retain client data. Under HIPAA, health information about patients cannot be disclosed without their consent or knowledge.

“At Nitro, we believe that it is important to validate and test our security posture to provide assurance of our trustworthiness,” said David Lenoe, vice president of security. “It’s of the utmost importance to provide our customers with secure and reliable solutions.”

In addition to the AICPA SOC 2 Type 2 Report on Controls Relevant to Security, Availability, Confidentiality, and Privacy, Nitro also has a HIPAA Security Compliance Assessment of internal controls in place. An independent third-party auditor audits Nitro’s controls every year. Nitro has been in compliance with HIPAA and SOC 2 since 2017.

“Demonstrating our commitment to security through compliance efforts and certifications is one important way to earn the trust of our customers,” Lenoe said. “We also believe that having a third-party auditor validate our security controls only makes our security and compliance program even stronger.”

360 Advanced, Inc., a Cybersecurity and Compliance business, completed the endeavor as a professional and unbiased third-party audit firm.
